This DOG & KID friendly property is new in the Vacation Rental and Accommodations Big Sur scene. Located across the street from Esalen and just 10.5 miles south of Nepenthe Restaurant and the Phoenix Gallery. This property is home to Big Sur Old Growth – a lumber production company organized around values of reverence, honor and respect for the beauty of old growth redwood trees. Currently the Vintage trailers are used as housing for my lumber mill workers and when not in use are available for guests.

These accommodations and vacation rentals are placed on the property with Privacy, Ocean Views and Natural Beauty in mind. I am a long time resident of Big Sur and consider my self a gentle and skilled land steward. This is my second completely OFF THE GRID – Uber Green development in Big Sur and when completed will offer up to 3 renovated Vintage Trailers for use by my work crews, guests, and friends. Although the domain for this site refers to “cabin rentals” – only Trailers occupy this property. *See note below*.
All equipment and vehicles are run on BIODIESEL. Solar panels provide sufficient electricity to run modest needs. Propane heats water for bathing and cooking.
54 Acres of gently cared for land allows the traveler to enjoy this rugged landscape. The Trailers are available at a fixed minimum rate of $350 for the site rental – includes 2 nights. Additional nights are $175 with 7th night FREE.
NOTE: These Off-the-grid accommodations – Airstreams Rentals are the perfect guest house type accomodations for someone looking to get lost in nature. Your Eco Adventure begins by meeting your host at the gate – and traversing the rugged (less than 1 mile driveway) terrain to your secluded destination. You’ll be leaving your car at the property gate and loading your gear into the small Jeep for the journey. It’s a five minute walk back down to your car. And steep climb back up – so it’s best to pack light – so we can get everything up in 1 trip. Head over to the Checking In – & Out page for more details.
Big Sur Cabins For Rent is NOT for sissies. Off the Grid – is just that. It’s more rugged than hoteling but not quite ruffing it like camping. The trailers are warm, dry and lovingly restored. You can enjoy the view, the high thread count sheets, outdoor (and indoor) showers, all the utensils you’ll need to create a gourmet meal. All my trailers have working stoves, heaters, and lights. Beautiful bath house provides luxurious amenities.
As the owner of this land – I have lived in the wilds of Big Sur & off-grid since 1991. I am by trade a master Stone Mason, Builder, and Carpenter and skilled horticulturalist. I’ve created terraces and planted fruit trees, wisteria, ginger, vegetables, and keep chickens for fresh eggs. The places I’ve come to love and create are gracious spacious and comfortable. A hot shower – or bath – overlooking an incredible view a place to cook an amazing meal, a warm, dry, quiet and peaceful place to sleep.
As the owner of Big Sur Old Growtha sustainable reclaimed Redwood and other hardwood mill, I invite you to come and enjoy the beautiful and rugged coastline.
